Must be, Alex is sort of Mark sized, is on 10/10ths and has right cars so has presumably provided the race suit to ensure fund raising goes ahead.

You 2 should be detectives. :thumbsup

There's something pretty special about a workshop full of Alpina CSL's and a Group5 e21.

DISASTER

Herman's clutch let go big time powershifting in last run!!

update
misdiagnosis!
Apparently it is one of the driveshafts that broke! We need a complete rhs shaft and inner and outer joints- dear experts what do you suggest we use? Is there a stronger one that Nas and Mark use??

Haven't heard of structural issues with other cars where the power was increased. Maybe just bad luck, factory error, old unit? Any idea what part of it exactly gave up? With high torque values, a lowered car and a limited slip diff usually the universal joints give up but that's more regular wear to me.

As it was night to the first of May and I did not have any plans of what to do this day, I made my self up and made a roadtrip out of it. The BMW club in møre og romsdal was going to have a spring meeting this day and the weather was nice. I left home 01.00 and had a 180 kilometer trip to Fagernes just to meet a sign that the road was closed. Find an other road and was heading to Lillehammer, but after an other 80 kilometer the road ended, so I went back to Fagernes to wait for the road to open. I drived to find the gate that was closed, but dident find it. The road was open and I was on my way to Ålesund. The 160 kilometer trip over the road to find out the road vas closed...... Long way to drive the wrong way you think...... It was not ;-) just a pleasure to be on the road alone and have the good feeling of an nice E21 323i ..... Love it.

1400 kilometer total this day.... no problems and just a nice tour. I got the price for the best original car before 1990 an a lot of cleaning products from BMW. So now I have to shine the car before the spring meeting in Oslo the 5 of may.

Sounds like a wonderful trip. And driving an E21 is never boring! Thanks for sharing the photos. Already know if you can make it for our Sharknose Party?

J You are quite right (as usual) one cv joint sorted of exploded damaging one driveshaft- interesting what the ball bearings did- Steve will post a picture when he gets back to island next week

Wallace & grommit have them on offer along with all the bearing units etc- so have ordered 2 complete- don't want this happening again

On another matter- it looks as though we have an entry in the special camaro race 45 year anniversary in Copenhagen Historic Grand Prix 4/5 August (in camaro)- still in discussions over eligibility and tyres etc.

328i sport you say... wheels and tyres? sporty bumpers? I'd probably be after the LSD too but I'll probably just fit a welder :P

Those steel wheels look mint!

Drove 240 miles down to Cornwall yesterday. About 40 miles in the throttle pedal went to the floor and it looked like a snapped cable. Luckily the nipple had simply jumped out of its cradle so was soon fixed and a small cable tie should stop it happening again. From then on, the A303 was almost deserted so I was able to push on. I'm glad I kept the 3:07 diff as it means I can cruise at decent speeds and still get good MPG.

500 mile round trip to get it.
The wheels are mint ( on the e21 that is) still got the chrome rings and original tyres. e_surprised Everything I'm taking off is too good to weigh in its all got virtually no corrosion at all. Rob don't forget I still need a pedal box and bits for manual conversion.

Depending on price, interested in the LSD, wheels, and perhaps bumpers/valance. Looked like a nice sport!

How soon do you need the pedal box?

no major rush what you thinking. Its an ok sport body a bit scabby in usual places and front bumper has a bit of damage but loads of bmw history even got the tool kit and 1st aid kit FFS. how about the car minus engine £600?
