Do you mean as low as the first car in this thread? Or maybe that one on airride, because if it's that one I can understand it... The first one is just beautiful if you ask me, and I'm very sure it will out-handle any stock E21 there is...
At that height an E21 is still very practical.

My car is lowered 60 40 im on my 4th sump repair
It just isn't practical for everyday use.
I've made a sump guard for now until I can get new
Springs. The new springs will still be shorter as the handling
Suffers badly on stock ones

Really? Wow. How far is your sump off the ground? Maybe 323i's have them hanging way lower or something?
Mine is about 7 cms (about 2,5 inches) off the ground and I've only hit it softly once, on a really bad road.
Other than that, I regularly hit my middle exhaust silencer on really bad speedbumps all the time, but that's just logical if you lower it that much...

Hi
Thought I would share my experiences with Herman

fitted with more or less standard Alpina suspension (Having ditched the KW full on coilover setup for being rock hard and too low)

Front sump hits my drive (let alone speed bumps- which we don't have on isle of man -since we don't have speed limits!)
Engine is a big block Alpina M30 which is set around 1/2 inch lower than a 2.3 sb

Picture shows Herman as it was:

And here after the RPM top mounts were fitted the front ground clearance issue resolved added apprx 1/2 inch ride at front:
Image

Agreed need to balance rear

But it really is not worth having a beautiful car only to find it unusable being too low and too hard for street use- my kidneys cried enough with the KW coil overs on Manx Roads!!

I could probably drop another 5mm before the exhaust bottoms out.

The car in the first pic has an amazing stance. But obviously thats my opinion. I had a 72 mini which as standard are quite low. Mine was sitting 3 inches off the ground n never had issues where i live. Then i had a e30 with the front bumper sitting 2 inches off the ground. Again. Where i live its not much of an issue. Tbh. I not looking for practicality as its not my everyday ride. So i want to get the look perfect.
Anyone got any coilovers for sale? Or is there a cheaper alternative to lowering e21s?

Yea being low for looks makes me laugh. I bought covers to increase handling performance.

The e21 iv got is going to be purely for looks. Iv got my day to day car for comfort. Thee21 will probably only be driven a handful of times in summer. Then stored for winter. The look of the drop in the first pic doesnt look impractical at all.

IS THAT HAYASHI STREET's? :shock
size? offset?

nice KE70 you have!
Understeer is when you hit the wall with the front of the car. Oversteer is when you hit the wall with the rear of the car.
Horsepower is how fast you hit the wall. Torque is how far you take the wall with you.
