Any special requests?
Just trying to keep this place as informative and lively as possible even adding babes
I'd like to know from you: what more would you like to see here? A new section or topic, special subjects, any particular how-to, something else? Let us know here!

Re: Any special requests?
I've got a little one! Can we increase the inbox limit for PM's? Think it's currently at 50.
I'm always hitting my limit and having to delete but I like to keep a record of who I've bought things from, or who wants to buy from me (although PayPal offers this record - forum usernames are often different to IRL names so things can get confusing!).

Re: Any special requests?
OK, changed that to 100 for now. If I make it much larger it may have quite an impact on the size of the database which might make the forum slower. Hope that helps!

Re: Any special requests?
Hi
This is a very user friendly forum- much easier and better language than the E30 zone for eg!
How about listing the advice under relevant headings under tecnical that remain easy to find after posting
for eg there are really helpful threads on:
Rear spoilers
Wheels
Steering wheels
Gearboxes
Engine weights etc
WDYT?

Re: Any special requests?
Even though the search function is a great help as well, I have no issue with making more Technical topics 'sticky' (than we already have) or even place them in a separate Sticky Topics subforum. But, since I can't watch it all myself, if a thread has developed to a useful source of gathered info or DIY, send me a PM and I'll mark it. So I'm open to your suggested topics!

Re: Any special requests?
for the tech section - you have a lot covered on the main site rather then the forum so perhaps a link from the forum to the relevent section on the main site?
Other than that what I'd most like is a mobile theme as i often use my smartphone to log into the e21 site.

Re: Any special requests?
Thanks! Link: I thought about this before as many people do not realize there's more than just a forum
Mobile theme: introduced it for the main website, according to my sources there is no stable mobile application available to be able to use phpbb boards, but a good one is in the final stage of testing so I hope to be able to introduce that on short term as well!
Keep em coming people

Re: Any special requests?
Thread edited, summary: tried some mobile mods but no stable versions yet for this type of forum, or you'd have to buy some app. Please have a little patience, a mobile version including autodetect and a possibility to switch between regular and mobile website is being finalized as we speak. For the regular website http://www.bmwe21.net a mobile version is already up and running at http://m.bmwe21.net

Re: Any special requests?
Yes one idea that we have floated around before is the section for Alpina/Hartge E21 Cars
at present it is buried deep (for us Brits) in the Dutch section
can we have it as a standalone area on the main Board since we are all part of the same Alpina Hartge family whereever we happen to live ie Europe or UK or even Isle of Man?
So can we have an Alpina/Hartge section with owners cars pictures and the like on the Main Board please?
John and Kev both have genuine A4s in UK and we know of 2 genuine B6s in Great Britain as well as Mark's famous TWR/Alpina- more will follow I think?

Re: Any special requests?
All we have in the Dutch section is a registry for Dutch cars. No problem whatsoever with a dedicated section here, but how far do we go? Only original cars from Alpina, Hartge, Schnitzer? Are conversions by TWR, Dietel, MK and the like also good enough? What about other or later conversions? Then it would be a broader section for tuners cars and other conversions.

Re: Any special requests?
I know it is difficult to please everyone
but I would be inclined to have only period modified cars here or at least those that replicate period modifications- at least to start with - so that would include TWR MK and Dietel- as well as the usual suspects?
Replicas verses continuation models- is a hot topic I know
In our Manx Classic Regs I defined a kit car thus:
"A Kit Car is defined as a vehicle in which the engine and chassis may come from different manufacturers from original in period and the engine and ancillaries may not be in the original manufacturer’s location."
The FIA follow a similar process as I think I have expounded here before- for eg if you can find evidence of a small block all disc braked corvette running in an international event in 1965 (such as Sebring)- then you can build that car (and get papers).
So if you want to put a modern engine in your E21 - then this is possibly not the place to tel us all about it!

Re: Any special requests?
In the Dutch section we have the Owners Gallery split up like this:
4 cil
6 cil
modified (Alpina, Hartge, etc)
convertible
We could do the same for the english section and even add a separate US registry
Upon request I can move existing threads to the relevant category, I'm not planning to go over all the 701 existing owners threads

Re: Any special requests?
Just thought, we have like separate topics on engine, suspension, wheels ets in the Buyer's Guide, already nicely categorized, perhaps we should add links to relevant topics there? Works better than a long list or a giant heap of sticky'sTopCat wrote:...
