Brake pad warning sensor

Post by AndyBaur »

While fitting my new discs & pads I discovered some bodger had cut the plug off the wireto the sensor & soldered the wire from the sensor in. Of course the sensor fell apart as soon as I tried to remove it from the pads so connecting a new sensor is not just plug 'n' play.
:wtf

I will check my parts car to see if I can salvage the plug & wire from that but my question is, "Do I even need to?"

Do I need a sensor at all? Can I just tape up the wires? If so, do I tape them up connected or separated ? ie. circuit open or closed?

No you don't. I've took mine off as I maintain my car properly.

That was my thinking.

I don't think my sensor was working anyway since the pad material had worn so thin it slid off the backing plate when I removed them but the warning light hadn't come on. I'll tape them up out of the way.
