Hi everyone. Had my E21 for a few days, first one and I love it to bits. My to do list is mounting and I could do with a bit of advice, im going to be restoring the car as best as possible.
Firstly the sunroof only tilts doesn't slide. Can I fix this myself or does anyone know somewhere I can take it to get it fixed, or a new one, im in the South East of England, just North of London. Secondly. The heat guard on the underside of the bonnet is brittle and is crumbling onto my engine. Can anyone advise me on how to get it off and all the glue too, also where do I get a new one from? It's going to be messy. Off the subject slightly would anyone know if E30 springs would be alright on my car. It's a 1983 316 by the way.
Im sure there will be more questions for everyone as I go through getting the car looking immaculate but these our my jobs for now. Thanks everyone. Sorry to be a pain.
All the best
Joe

Hi first of all welcome ..
As for your roof why doesn't it slide ??? you turn the lever right to tilt the roof .. when it closes you are on the middelpoint .. then you have to fors (a bit) the lever to the left .. 2 clicks will be heard and then you can turn the lever freely to the left side and the roof wil slide open .. of not something else is wrong

Hey, welcome here and fisrt of all enjoy your E21. About your questions.
* The E30 springs are not for the E21 suitable.
* The insulation of the hood is still available at the dealer or for example Walloth and nesch.
* The sunroof can be checked by yourself offcourse but you must make sure that the roof, when it can slide, will not rub the mainroof (paintscretching). Can you give some more info why you think the roof is not working.
