Re: how long have you owned your e21
Belongs to my family (grand mother) since 1977 when it was bought new...i was 2 plus something back then...So this makes 35 years... Mother and Uncle have been driving her until 1993, when I became 18. Then I took her (and also came to my name)... So this makes 19 years I have been driving her.
But I guess that number 35 is the one that counts, I have been driving (illegally!!) her, washing her and loving her, and waiting to make her mine, a lot of years before my driving licence came!!!

Re: how long have you owned your e21
details of how long I have owned the current stable of classics:
Butch and Camilla- (Camaros) owned since 1988
Big Red (Hartge) owned since 1994 (when it was 3 years old)
Herman Alpina E21- most recent- only purchased last year from Switzerland
CJ- the 6 litre Jeep owned since 2006
Daisy the 5 litre Jeep- owned since 2008
I have several other cars which are of no interest to classic car owners- but I do tend to keep my cars for a long time (My chipped BMW engined ZT-T MG I have had from new in 2004 for eg!)
Returning to E21s - I had several of these in the 80's one after another before my first new e30 in 1989.
I have some chums in the car business - and they all acknowledge that I am not the sort of customer to help them make their money from the simply staggering Depreciation that new cars offer to those with more money and car snobbery than car sense!
