My car was PARKED also. You'll be surprised at the path water can take when it enters the car and runs along interior trim etc. Especially when it runs along interior door trim rubbers.

Have you checked the inner wheel arches? Do you get water in your glove box? Try removing the tin cover over the windscreen wiper mechanism and check for holes. Once you remove trim parts like that you should be able to see if water is getting past the windscreen rubber.

I only get serious water leaks from the speaker mounts when my car is parked in the heavy rain. the water leakage is less when i am on the move.

Yes i have checked the inner wheel arches......no holes or rust. I do not get a swimming pool in the glove box. Remove the tin cover, the whole area is fine, no wholes that I can see or rust as i have rust proofed it a while back and it is still holding. i have even check the underside of the compartment, looks ok from the photos that I took.

I think it is the seals............gonna change it in the next couple of months when i repaint the car............then i guess we will see........sigh......

I have the exact same issue on the passenger side. It drips across the speaker grill. I can't see it coming from underneath the door as the speaker is mounted higher than this, and the water would have to defy gravity to get up there! Nor do I have a sunroof, and the windowscreen seal is new, with no rust on the surround or A-Pillar. No puddle in the glovebox. I also have a feeling it's coming through the bonnet/wiper/heater area somehow. I'll be swapping my dashboard and interior soon, so I'll take that as an opportunity to investigate with a hosepipe and a friend (that just sounds wrong..).

I can foresee it's gonna be tough to pinpoint though. I went through a carwash the other day (I know I shouldn't, but I'm lazy) and it took about a minute after the car wash started for the water to begin trickling down the footwell .

lol

how would the water get there, like enter through the vent intake, drip on the crossbar the dash is on, flow to the side and drip down. Sounds like a long shot but water does take weird exits and where it turns up usually is not the point of entry, but this might pin it down to a bad seal between the vent unit and the firewall. Never seen that on an E21, more of an E30 issue, but there's a first for everything.

It's taking some sort of circuitous route I think, based on the delay between water hitting the car and the leak presenting itself. I guess I'll know for sure once the dash and carpets are out.

behind your front wings below the screen theres two drain holes on either side of the car which allow water out where the bonnet vents are.

They are pretty wide so it might not be this but id aim a jet wash and give it a blast ot might be stuck full of crud. pour some water in and see if it comes through. my guess is that its blocked not draining quick enough and then leaking past the fans / heater matrix

After you wash your car - open your bonnet and look at the rubber seal where the loom goes from the fuse box into the passenger side. maybe water getting through there.

Might be worth a look, i dont know if you still have the origional radio antenna installed but my car had 2 holes on the A pillar behind the top corner of the front wing, i think this is where the origional is installed screwed to the shell, it may be running in there, its right above the speaker.
