Indicators and wipers not working please help

Hi guys

Just finished restoring my gold e21 316 and I have a strange problem with the some of the column controls, ie indicators and wipers, the hazard lights work perfectly but the indicators will not work at all, I have checked fuses and the earth to column but still no luck, I did take the pedal box out to paint the engine bay but don't think I disturbed anything, I did originally think it may be the indicator stalk switch itself buy I find it a little strange how the wiper controls have also stopped workin, anybody got any ideas or even better a wiring diagram for the indicators/ wiper setup??

Perhaps you have a loose ground cable if both quit at the same time. Same story here, also check the fuses for corrosion...

I've checked the earth to the column are there any other earthing places I should check?

Sorry can't help with the indicators, but those wheel look awesome!

There's a earth point just after the fuse box in the engine bay.

Also clean terminals in the fuse box and the fuses themselves. This Defo helps.

Last year I had problems with wipers & indicators and it was where the wires come through the bulkhead. One wire had worn through and would short out every now and then. Flasher unit also caused problems iirc.

Where do they come through the bulkhead mark? Is it with the main loom to the fusebox on the top of the passenger side wing?

I seem to recall it was drivers side? Maybe my old and weary memory though. It drove me mental for weeks! Have you looked at the hazard switch too? Half the bloody loom seems to go through that thing!

Yeah I've put a brand new hazard switch in and the hazards work perfectly

The Haynes book of lies has a wiring diagram. Also, did you spin the fuses in their holders? They oxidise and stop making contact. I replaced two perfectly good headlight bulbs before working that out.

@ Reck yeah buddy all the fuses are super clean and the terminals, of course the book of lies!! forgot i had one lol my suspicions are that nas maybe right with his suggestion about the earth points buy the fuse box. ive resprayed the engine bay so stands a chance theres paint somewhere there shouldnt be, and Rob you love it ya big homo!!
