I think this all started as I posted on a thread recently , my comment was just kidding about a certain vendor ripping people off because others had already given him a bit of a leg pull on that thread. I got a bunch of irate text messages (lol).. Obv bit sensitive this guy, maybe I struck a nerve there? Oopsies!!!!

What this clique rubbish I'm seeing being mentioned? Am I in this clique? if not, how does one join?

If your referring to a group of lads that hang out, talk about e21s they building, seen, bought , sold , favour on parts as well as advice.. Invite each other round for tea etc.. Borrow stuff.. etc etc.. isn't that what this site is about? A place to make friends?

My thoughts about this new wave of parts pricing...

Lol id never thought I would see the day that fritz bitz or big bavarian beauties are actually cheaper than another guy on parts .. I got told that a * 4 speed * m20 box is worth £300 today. :crazy "aye, price a snip, t'that" lol

There this lad I know on this very forum.. so one day we having one of our usual arguments for no reason .(no love lost btw mate )

Then out of nowhere he said that supermarkets drop suppliers even if they are 1p too expensive. He was absolutely right. Going to take his advice.. Ill be going to wallasch and nech / Fritz bitz from now on! :)

For me starting this thread was not directed at any one person.
It was more of a case for everyone to be on the same page as we are all after 1 thing and that is to keep our cars on the road.

As for e21 car prices on the rise i dont see any evedence to this. The only thing i see is car parts on the rise and then people calculating the cost of the car as parts and putting a price on the car on these bases. Dont forget most cars would only get valued as scrap metal if they have no mot on them.

forget about book prices. What matters is are the cars selling for the price addvertised. A few forum cars were for sale but no takers.
And they were/are nice cars.

Current VIP membership allows people to support this place if they like, no obligation. A possible next step could be that people are asked to pay a small fee if they want to promote their business in their signature.

I defo agree with your suggestion for people to send a seller a PM if they are the opinion the price is way off, a subtle way of informing people without starting yet another row on the forum.

Shouldn't that be the end of this discussion? OK adding the fact that we all promise to supply as much as possible info when we are selling or looking for goods like price, location, condition, etc? I'll update the 'read me first' for that one. No shouts anymore saying "hey guys I am considering selling my 320 anyone interested? ". Threads like that will be deleted and repeat offenders will be banned. Same for people starting discussions on pricing, kidding or not, let's just try to avoid misinterpretations.

With that behind us, I think the road should be clear for a fun year here on the forum, agreed? Thanks for all your inputs in this discussion!

Now then, any new suggestions as how to make this place even more welcoming to all E21 fans worldwide?

I'm happy to make a contribution to the costs of this forum whether I sell any parts here or not. I have met and made some good friends here.

I probably won't bother offering stuff for sale here anymore though.

I have done 4 insurance reports/claims/valuations on 323i since August last year and the average price paid was £6 400. Eclectic Cars & 4 Star Classics have both sold 323i for in excess of £7k. Cars that don't sell, usually don't sell for a reason. I think we're being naive if we don't think car prices/values are rising.

There are also more UK e21 builds currently going on than there have been at any other time, in recent years. Popularity brings demand and demand brings value.

Anyway, I'm out. :sealed

No you're not! :P

Funny thing I also saw when offering my E36 M3 FS recently. Potential buyers telling me the car only has scrap metal value. Until they become sellers, that's the point a car becomes a unique opportunity in perfect condition.

Let me repeat myself once more: live and let live. Too expensive for you, even after exchanging PM's? Move on. There's not much more to it.
