how low can you go!

Post by yastra »

Hi im newish to the bmw seen iv allways had vws one day i seen a e21 up for sale on ebay and fell in love with them and as id kinda got bored of vws i decided to buy it :/ i have since bought some gaz coilovers and have fitted them but im not sure how low to wind them down as i dont no how this will effect the drive shafts etc? Iv allways had my vws slamed and iv had no issues with cv joint etc breaking. Does anyone with any lowing/slamed experience have any ideas about how low i can go without popping drive shafts out?
Its a e21 316 if that will make any difference
Thanks

The drive shafts have a joint at either end. You'll be fine.

You can go as low as you like really,

Limits will be similar to other cars, such as sump / exhaust & subframes.

Worth noting that very low at the rear will give lots of negative camber which will affect tyre wear.

Yeah i put it right down the other day just to see what it looked like and jeez the cambers a bit crazy on the back haha think il just go down a bit for now maby il go lower when i get new wheels, also iv been having a problem finding the corrct rear top mount rubber for the coilovers as the ones i have atm are the standard ones and they dont fit to well on the coilovers resulting in them jumping a litle at the back and maby a slight noise , i dont suppose anyone knows were i can get smaller/correct rubbers for gaz coilovers? Thanks
