Finally found an aftermarket filter for the Weber 32/34 to replace the ugly pancake filter and that doesn't foul the bonnet. It's only 25mm deep. Here if anyone is interested;

Now - I'm wondering what to do with the oil breather hose that used to go from the cam cover to the old air filter housing. I don't really want to blank it off - apparently that could cause high pressures in the engine, potentially blowing a seal somewhere or causing my dipstick to pop out? What would you guys do?
I could have a hole drilled into the new filter baseplate but would rather not to be honest. Extend the breather hose and have an oil can mounted in the bay somewhere to catch the fumes/drips? Just have it breathe into the engine bay (again, would rather not... it's messy enough as it is..)?

Run the hose to an alloy catch tank. Either that or cut it back to an inch or 2 and blank it off with an old bolt.

Catch tank is the way to go. The slug has a plastic bottle (it's a black one as I recall, ? early pepsi max) because no oil really comes out so MSA approved 1L one is not needed. In theory vacuum on the breather is a good think but makes naff all difference in the real world. Or one of those filters will be fine.
I had a K&N on the weber on my blue car, could you not find one of those?
