Power steering

Post by healeyneil »

Hi all. Im about to start fitting an M42 engine in my Baur. I havent driven this car at all, so I was wondering if I should think about trying to fit the E36 power rack that is sitting in front of the new engine right now. I suspect not, just idle dreaming !

The steering rack from the e36 is on the wrong side of the subframe.

Rephrase the question. does it need power steering, or is that a function of tyre size? Given that the M42 is fairly light, I suspect the rack doesnt need assistance, but seeing as the bits will be available, Iwant to cover the options.
Keep dreaming !

Even with a quicker rack fitted I never felt the need for PAS.

This might help if you're struggling.
