Does anyone know of anywhere reasonably local to Manchester for re-chroming?

I know I can get a few bits from BMW for cheaper than getting them refurbished, but I need the rear bumper doing, and I can't see that being a cheap item to buy?

And the quality of BMW's chrome is horrible these days, but they haven't exactly adjusted the prices to the fact that they supply cheap rubbish now, prices have only gone up. The only option to get decent chrome is to have old quality stuff rechromed.

I need new front bumper corners. BMW want £225 each, Walloth & Nesch only have the left side at £190.

My items aren't bad but rust is bleeding through one & the chrome is peelining one the other so rechroming seems to be the way forward unless anybody has a good secondhand pair at a reasonable price.

Andy i may have a spare set actually and they are in good / resonable condition.

If you want to rechrome something the cost isnt so much the coating but the fact that the metal has to be totally blemish free and dead smooth. I actually have relatively new aftermarket front bumper and the chrome on it is terrible. Its is shiny but its not even close to being a mirror like how you would want.

This is my problem, the bumper itself is quite rusted (only surface) and the chrome is coming away.

Would blasting do a good enough job? Or does it need to be smoother than that?

you need the substrate to be smooth like glass. if you give them the whole thing then they can prepare the piece if it needs work - they will charge you more though.

And blasting won't give a glass smooth finish?

I've only ever had things powdercoated, never seen/felt them after blasting.

PM sent.

Eddie, I have a spare rear bumper complete which has good chrome but a slight ripple from a previous owner parking by ear. I can get photos if you like.
