Engine swap

Hi guys. Had a quick question. I was talking to a guy today who has an e21. And he said to me that you can drop an e30 2 or 2.5 litre engine into an e21 with the old e21 manual transmition without further work. Is this true? If so.... I feel an upgrade coming along soon.

e30 2.5 plus motronic is straightforward. You need about 3 wires from car to engine loom, then fit the ecu above the glovebox. Various minor niggles with sensors that have same connectors and can be swapped over giving no start, but lots of info on the forum. Check my Baur rebuildathon and Murrans motronic thread.

It's really quite easy if you have a 6 pot to start with.

easy to do and yes bolts straight in, depends on obv if your starting off with a 320/6 or a 323i. Obv not as simple in a 316.

I can do the swap but theres about a month or two before i could start it..
