Followoing on from my other thread. After 6 years in storage i have found 8 wires leading to the fuse box have been chewed by the F*****G mice re joined them tempoary but car still not firing up..
i have no spark to the ht/spark plug leads.
question.
does the current run from iginigtion coil to the dissy cap then to the spark plugs or ????
Any help please

i had the same problem , i change ignition control unit .part number 12 14 1 273 217. and then car start's.

is that the bmw stock part no. cos i phoned my local bmw parts and they said could not list it

Should not be too hard to locate used as well. Make sure to clean up things, use some heat dissipating paste between the regulator and the cooling element, and make sure to have a good ground connection. On many E21's that is a common weakpoint, either corrosion or bad ground causing things not to work, or break due to overheating.

hey GOOD NEWS, my bruv lent me the module and guess what. it STARTS yeeeeeaaaaaahhhhhhh.
its a bit rough as off course i assumed it would be. but it starts and moves.....
should be able to come out of back garage this weekend, then i could look at what it really needs.
