Finished up the coolant system so I could fire her up and get her down off the ramps. Then I could take the wheels off and get them to the shop for new boots.

Got a plumbed-in fire extinguisher system from the good people at Safety Devices. Hopefully MIB2 won't ever be BBQ'd.

Re: What did you do to your E21 today?
Ordered a full set of Superflex poly bushes today!!
Had a chat with the guys in a little back street garage around the corner the other day, it turns out one of the oldish guys did 10years at BMW and really knows his E21's! What a find. It's going in the week after next for timing belt, new tanks fitted, poly bushes, and anything else he can find.
Looking forward to some progress.

Re: What did you do to your E21 today?
I ended up with 195/55/15. I wanted 205/50/15, but they are really hard to get (unless I wanted track tyres for some reason!?) and quite expensive. The old ones were 205/55 so they were much larger diameter than standard. These are still a little bigger, but only about 1%.Jeroen wrote:@ PeteK: nice boots indeed, what size are they?

Re: What did you do to your E21 today?
Decent 195/50-15's and 205/50-15's are becoming rare, Bridgestone doesn't supply the RE002 in these sizes anyway. E30 spec 205/55-15 are too big so 195/55-15 defo is the best option. I just had this dilemma myself and ended up buying Michelin's that are still available in the 'stock' Alpina sizes. At a price though.

Re: What did you do to your E21 today?
Thursday: My (her!!) new K&N air filter arrived ! Beautiful ! and right on time also: Next day I saw there was no idle, even after warming up: I was lucky to see that while driving near my mechanic. Went straight in, and he cleaned the carb (from some small sediment that was blocking it). Everything OK now. But the custom air filter leaves some unfiltered air to pass through...
Next service it will be replaced by the K&N
