UHS always goes on nice. we use lechler mc 442 for bigger area jobs and mippa cx85 for corners etc your work looks great I have to admit I was worried when Nas said he was sending his pride and joy to an untested painter. looks like I need not have worried (me or him lol) top work looks amazing

Thanks i still have a way to go yet, days of wet sanding ahead of me. I have always found lechler to flow really nice for full jobs and you can put one and a half coats on between layers if you are putting down artwork (flames, aurbrushing etc) so you can keep the overall paint thickness down. to be honest apart from small repairs i dont use anythin else. Glad your enjoyin the pics.

id love to take all the credit but i think its mainly Mal's good work that makes it look awesome. picking a colour is difficult though, you can just as easily ruin a car if you go for the wrong one.

Had i done it with my roller (like i did on the mk2 polo i built last year *lol*) it wouldnt look as good as it does in these pics.

I think once the car is done with paint then its only really 50% completed. i have a long and careful road of trying to not damage my paint while putting the engine and stuff back in.

Mate have u put ur engine in? If not remove subframe build engine n box then install from underneath far less chance of damaging the new paint ,
But then u probably know that already .....

yes - cost me £50 to paint the car using rustoleum thinned with white spirit and applied using a gloss roller 8) took me about 10 coats with a wet sanding between three coats. theres loads of info on the internet... I dont have a build thread for that car per-se but you can see the end result here.

I am telling you now that that car easily kept up with my mates chipped passat tdi lol. - jacko drove it and even he didnt critise it lol - and i litterally had DrGonzoPOW (dave) beg me to slow down on a country lane cos he had ran out of bottle LOL :launch

Ayden - not got the engine in, nor the brakes / or made the braided hoses, nor extended the wiring loom, interior or the new m3 box / drivetrain etc. you have to drop the car onto the engine rather then try and go in over the top. the engine is just too long lol.

car came back late last night. i was already in the garage (did i mention a million times over i have a new double garage now lol), I was trying to tidy up and get organised, but it was difficult cos a lot of time was spent "just looking" at the painted shell :) ahhh fresh paint is awesome.

Throughout the whole respray job, ive litterally bugged Mal through facebook, watsapp, phone etc on pretty much a *daily basis*, hes not told me to go away and just leave him alone at all. He's a good laugh and even makes tea pretty damn well. The pride he has taken in his work just shows through.. well done Mal, im over the moon.

Now the fun bit of rebuilding it from the wheels up can start.. Completion date is the 8th June, theres going to be some late nights ahead.. pics soon
