Post by nas80 »

I was just wondering if anyone knows if the *front* calipers on an e30 have the same bolt spacing as a e21 calipers?

reason i ask is that im looking to buy some off the shelf brackets..

Hi,
E30 calipers won't fit (and if made to fit they won't improve anything...).
If you want to upgrade you could go with a 284mm disk and E36 or E28 calipers (which I did).
here you go:

lol no i dont want crappy e30 calipers,

People put rx7 brakes on e30's and theres ready made brackets. I have the drawings for that braket and its essentially a straight piece of bar. i was trying to make a shortcut but i guess that isnt going to happen.

I am using FD3S alloy calipers and rx7 disks, they are 294mm, 72mm bore and 5x114 so no oval holes (not that it really matters about that) but meh just looks tidier. (ill be using some nice endless performance pads) im planning on also replacing the rear calipers with the rx7 rears too.. no need for the drum brake mech the handbrake is actuated via the caliper.

in 1992 the rx7 was not only one of the fastest jap cars you could buy but it also had the best brakes (i cant find the article now but when they tested the 100-0 times / distance it actually rivalled some hot supercars - porsche aston etc)

Hi,
the disks are from a Fiat / Alfa Romeo with 4x98.
Centerbore has to be enlarged and minor mods to the 4x98 to fit 4x100.
