Exhaust header M20 ?

Hi chaps.

After i have taken the engine compartment apart in the E21 i noticed that there is ALOT of room on the exhaust side of the engine. I therefore wondered if any M20 exhaust header would fit the E21 ? I know that the rest of the exhaust will have to be redone (but i need to do that anyways).

A E30 M20 exhaust header can be bought brand new from around 150£ and are very easy to get hold of. So if it doesnt touch the sides or other parts of the car it should be doable or am i

E30 header doesn't fit on RHD cars. There's only one place that list a RHD e21 six branch and the quality isn't great. Used ones do come up sometimes, but they hold their money. I wouldn't bother unless it's a high spec engine, as you'll only see 1 or 2 bhp increase anyway.

I have a LHD car so will it fit on this ?

I have no idea, although the correct one may be a little easier to find?

On LHD the E30 example doesn't fit either. I'd just get an E21 example from the usual sellers, believe Schmiedmann have them?

Yeah you may be right. Thing is the original manifolds is a bit noisy. Some bolts to the front exhaust tubes have snapped and by the looks of it the rest of them will as soon as i try to loosen them. So a new header type manifold would look great, and give me a great solution to this problem. As the old Simons 63,5 mm exhaust has rusted beyond repairs i will have to build a new one anyways.

Where is the issues regarding fitment from E30 ? Is it possible to bend the E30 one a bit ?
