Strut differences

Hi
Is there any difference in the front struts?, want to convert a set to coilovers and was wondering if there is a better strut to use or my standard 316 ones

323 ones are usually most sought after, as they have larger bearing & tube.

Is there a difference with top mounts? And could you tell me what diameter it should be to tell if they are 323?
