Seeking Race history of gruppe 2 car

Post by glashaus »

Hello gruppe,

I'm new to your forum, but not e21s. I was wondering if any of you in Europe reconize this race car.

It was suppose to have raced in the eighties, nienties, ???. I'm trying to verify the history provide by the previous owner. I'm unable to post pics of the car but I understand it is listed on the "Bring A Trailer" website. It's also listed on the Bimmerforums e21 site as well

Thank you in advance for your help, time and consideration.

Bill

Going from the conversation on ''Bring a trailer'', it would seem that the original Gruppe2 chassis was replaced some years ago. If correct, the original car was crashed by Chuck Cox at Sears Point and Hoffman Motors sourced this chassis as a replacement.

If this is that car, it was obviously fitted with the box arches & m30 turbo engine at a later date.

Actually it's not the same car, I own the Chuck Cox 320 race car as well, the gruppe 2 car is an entirely different car. Thank you for the response, I hope someone from europe will recognize the white & blue # 23 car and step forward with info...

Thank you again.

Friend of mine is puzzled about his Group 2 / Group H E21 as well. Supposedly it is an Eggenberger prepped car but it is hard to find more info. Any sources, contacts or pics are welcome here as well. Here's a couple of pics. Interesting is the exhaust coming from the sill, that must be something rarely seen on Group 2 cars, more common on Group 5 examples.
