M10 clutch options?

Hi all,

I just got my first e21. 82 320i, calloway turbo, 5 speed. The car is making white smoke an obvious failed headgasket. I have a replacement lined up. On top of this the previous owner told me the clutch is on it's way out. So I plan on taking care if the 2 problems at the same time. My question is; are there other oe or aftermarket replacements that will do well with the added power of my setup?
I found sone fragments of information saying and m20 clutch/flywheel set paired with a 323i throw out baring? Any solid information would br a ton of help.

Does anyone know if the M10 B20 and M10B18 clutches are the same?

Google is your friend here. There's loads of after market options out there. I got a Sachs high performance 228mm clutch good for about 300 hp. I think the whole kit (including bearings) was about $350.

That's a bit of a trick question. There's two different sizes (215 and 228). You've either got one or the other. Once you work out your size, the bits are the same.

The S14 (e30 M3) clutch kit can work too if you have the 228mm flywheel. Rumour has it it is basically the same as the M20 Sachs HD but is significantly cheaper.

I ran one behind my M30 for a bit, they have good bite and work well.

Hmm, guess I won't know the flywheel size until I've actually dropped the box. I ended up buying a 215mm kit, hopefully I guessed right.

Your chances are pretty good. Unless your 1.8 is out of something early or odd, it's almost certainly 215.
