Brake Lines Hitting Coilovers

Post by Eddie. »

Okay, as above.

I have my original brake lines still fitted, but because of the drop in height from the coilovers, the lines are getting trapped between the tyre and the coilover.

Are there any off the shelf options that I can use to sort this, or do I need to make a new metal section and run the rubber hose round the back of the damper?

Any advice would be great,

Eddie.

I'd get a flexi stainless hose to go from the body end to the caliper itself, get rid of the grotty brackets etc that are seriously out of place on your car!

Yeah that's what I was thinking, get some and cut it to length.

What fitting's do you need/where would I get them? BMW?

Any idea what diameter hose I would need?

Goodridge type hose with the right fittings either end, no idea on what bits you need I'm afraid. I did buy a load of hose and fittings years ago to make up lines on the slug, but the guys at Ric Woods made them up along with the rest of the work they did for me, so Ihave no hands on experience. Talk to a proper brake line or motorsport person would be my advice.

Hel make lines up. £20 per side. Measure length to how you want it. make sure one end is a join spring clip and the other what ever it is on your chosen caliper. Jobs a good un

M10x1mm (common metric size) fittings.

Cheers, I'll get in touch with them.

I'll be fitting them to the standard calipers for now, don't suppose you know off the top of your head what fitting the standard calipers have?

Oh man. I don't know lol you really really need to measure them and work out your fittings.

Measuring the length I need isn't a problem, just working out the fittings is.

Anyway, cheers for the heads up about HEL.

I'll have a look at my fittings and work out what I need, or at least try!

had a dig through pics

its female coming from the inner wing and the caliper requires a male end im 95% sure - m10x1mm swivel fittings, you also need some clamp in the middle to hold it to the shock body you don't want it flapping about too much,.

Lovely, I'll have a look on my car and double check.

I'll also have a look on BMWfans when I'm next at the PC.
