Roll Bar Bushes

Post by DrGonzoPOW »

Hi, currently in the process of replacing the anti roll bar to control arm bushes.(does anyone have a write up on this by the way ? It was a right t**t getting the roll bar off)

I have'nt got the bushes out of the control arm yet, whats the best way ? Big socket and some threaded bar with bolts ?

I have 2x replacement bushes like the ones in the pic here.

But my question is, are there any other parts other than these to change ? When i took the roll bar off there were circles of shredded rubber hanging off the bar but i dont know what they were originally attached to. They were in front of the big washer at the front where the roll bar enters the control arm. Are these separate parts of some kind ? Ta

I've got this to do soon, I went to BMW and got the washers that go on the bar in front and behind the control arm, and one of the washers (the one that goes in front of the control arm) has a rubber ring around it's edge, presumably to damp any contact between the control arm and the washer. I'm guessing your mystery ring is this, as with rust and wear, it's bound to fall off the washer sooner or later.

£9.30 +vat a pair for the rubber ones, and £8.12 +vat for the others. Not super cheap, but not excessive.
