Hi guys, save me re-inventing the wheel. whats the options regarding changing from a carb fed engine to fuel injection where the fuel supply is concerned ? Obviously my M20 had a mechanical pump on the side of the engine. My M42 "new" engine had an in-tank pump. What did 323i's use? Is it as simple as just plumbing in an in-line pump ?

323's had a fuel pump and accumulator near the back box behind the fuel tanks, and a small fuel pump inside the tank. Any fuel pump will do providing the pressure is ok. I know 323's had a higher fuel pressure than say a 325 e30 due to the mechanical injection. But as long as your over the recomended and have a fuel pressure regulator to dial it in you should be all good. What injection are you running? Stand alone?
The Euro fuel injection models do not have an in-tank pump. In the tank is just a pickup unit and level sender. From there the fuel goes to an external filter, pump and accumulator. In my opinion and in line pump combined with filter will do as long as you get to abt 4-5 Bar. The fuel pressure regulator will then return excess fuel back into the tank.
