S14 engine wanted

Post by J.K.jr.bad. »

Hi!

Not a true e21 thing but still perhaps somebody got or knows where to get S14 engine. I'm willing to get one for my track days e21. Any version of s14 will be appreciated.

Even though its intended for an E21 and I think its one of the most fun engines to fit in an E21, its non-E21 so I'm moving this one to the off topic thread.

Yes it should be The Right engine for e21 as anything bigger (with more cylinders hanging over front axle) will spoil handling.

To make powerful enough m10 without artificial breathing machine will cost way too much and even then it won't reach power that can be drawn out of S14.

Although S14 is not engine from e21 it still has some common features that e21 engines had. Let's say it is a very facelifted version of m10. :)

So please if anyone got please let me know!

Correct, engine block size and shape is M10 and it's the best engine when it comes to balance in an E21 or E30. They're becoming pretty pricey these days but a souped up M10 engine will most likely set you back even further. My advice: get yourself a complete 320iS or just the engine from Italy in not too good shape, give it a compression test, some TLC and fresh conrod bearings and you're guaranteed to have a ball, and a reliable engine at a fair price.

I seem to remember Jason's engine being a freshly rebuilt unit with a full supercharger setup

Hi!

I was lucky and got s14b23 engine. It has to be rebuild but still I'm very happy. Great deal as this was found here in Latvia. Not just complete engine with all wires and ECU etc. was bought but also original M3 dogleg gearbox!

Just some pictures from pick up moment. I will try to make some gallery for you guys. ;)

Great, congratulations! I'd start off with a compression check, check the camshaft lobes for wear and see how precise the timing is to establish how good the timing chain still is (no issues usually). It still has the old chain tensioner and I'd replace that one anyway, also see this S14 page of mine: http://www.bmwe21.net/?page_id=186
