Tyres recommended.

Post by max »

Hi, I'm in the market for some new tyres, and was wondering what recommendations you guys had? I've got 7x15 MIMs on there with 195/50/15 at the mo.
I was going to go for 205/50/15. I was looking at Toyos. But what is anyone else running? I like the idea of a track friendly tyre but realistically I'm never going to get round to tracking it, so just a good fast road tyre really.
Cheers, Max

The best available tyres in that size are imo Bridgestone RE002 that are also available in both 195/50-15 and 205/50-15, Alpina spec to avoid the fronts rubbing the fenders stugge wang.

Runners op Hankook K110 with a slightly softer sidewall resulting in a bit earlier understeer, cheaper options Fulda EC/HP and Vredestein Sportrac 5. All (afaik) available in both these sizes as well.

Bridgestone potenza Adrenalins are great. I got a set of 195-55-15 and they are fantastic in wet and dry, but also went really well at our track day.

My opinion is that if you have some low power version stay with 195/50 size all around. If you got 323 or something more powerful then put 205/50 at rear.

I wouldn't worry about the extra 10 mm. I ran my track car (with way more hp than my 323i) and I've had everything from 185 to 235 on there.
