rear poly bushes

as title suggests
am in need of some rear beam bushes
ive done the fronts in poly last summer .
but where can i get the rears?
gonna drop the rear out in the spring and check all is good as am getting a knocking from rear occasionally
then maybe il get sourcing parts for the m52 conversion i want

also am in need of a LSD if anyone selling one

I got them from ebay.
big and yellow they are,
think they came from Poland possibly,
can't remember now,but they work great,just hit them in the cup with a mallet one side in first is the trick I used,easy to change though just jacked up ether side,undone the two bolts on the sill
then the large bolt that retains the bush,
then two bolts ether side behind the bush.
the two behind the bush keep the bush case to the beam so you can remove without dropping the whole beam,had exactly the same thing haha so much better now

BMW do Sport versions:

33 33 1 118 568 (left)

33 33 1 118 928 (right)

They seem nice & firm without being over-harsh. Do you really need polybushes?

They're an easy swap unless the small socket bolts (M8 x 22) on the sill seize & you have to drill the head off. You can get new brackets -33 32 1 115 960 (left) & 33 32 1 115 961 (right) if the threads are damaged.

I have a set of Eurometric bushes but have not installed them for fear that they are too hard for daily use, especially on the less than perfect roads in Malaysia. Are there any views on whether these Eurometric bushes are suitable for daily use if you want a balance between comfort and handling?

It's all down to personal preference as to whether they are too hard.

Currently, it's a fashion thing to polybush everything that has a bush in it. It's simply not necessary - if it was BMW would have done it. Ask yourself this, who spent the most in R & D, BMW or a Polish guy in a shed? Who knows most about chassis development & setup?

For racing or a track-only car then polybushes will be the way to go. For road use then you need some compliance in the suspension otherwise you just spend your time skipping from one bump to the next. Yes, the car will feel really 'tight' but is it actually adding any more control? Not when you're airbourne!

In some cases (E36/E46/Z4 trailing arm bushes) polybushes are extremely detrimental as they bind up, locking suspension movement with obvious consequences.

The rear bushes are easy to fit on an E21 (you don't even have to take the wheel off) so go ahead & try the polys. You can always switch back to oem Sports if they are too hard.

I'd go with poly bushing everywhere up front, as it's a bit of a weird design and you want to retain the steering geometry. New OE rears should be fine for most road use though, or stiffer if you're running more power or on track.

Has anyone got an old steering rack mounting bush they can send me please? I need one to source a poly version in the UK.

By the time they arrived they were just under £100! They send them in a bloody great box for some reason, so postage and customs charges bumped the cost right up. It might be worth trying a group buy and a US owner, to post for us, but a UK supplier would be better.
