Hi, is it possible to an a photo straight from my iPad to the forum without downloading first?

Sadly not. As I cannot limit the number of attachments for each user that would mean needing a lot of extra space. So upload to the internet is mandatory, but also very simple with photobucket and the likes and you can adjust them so they're not searchable/public.
