E12 lsd oil breather thingy on top of diff.

My diff arrived today and has not got the breather type thing on top of diff I see some have and some haven't got it. Do I need it ??

Mine also doesn't have this canister.

Some didn't come with it

Appears the bigger engines got them. What's its purpose ?

collects the fumes from the breather and prevents oil film build up. It means it's totally maintenance free.

Tbh I dont think you need it if you change the diff oil more frequently

The one on mine had started to corrode, so had to be cleaned up and repaired, before being painted. There are some pics available where a cooler and driveshaft driven pump, are fitted in its place.
