MPG??
Re: MPG??
Not great:
S54 currently setup rich for track work
mixed driving (some motorway and some sillyness) 20mpg.
I am booked in for a remap to get the part throttle & cruising setup better before my Europe trip.
Nearly forgot to say it did 7.1 mpg on the last trackday

Re: MPG??
On a more sensible note. My dad owned a 323i from new and drove 279k miles in it.
Generally averaging 31mpg, mostly motorway driving, just over 300 miles to a tank (45litres).
First 100k miles the car was standard.
the last 179k muiles was after rebuilding as a 2.7.

Re: MPG??
170 miles took just under half a tank on the motorway. Going mostly 80/90mph.
2.8 24v with e36 m3 box and a 3.07 so engine is sitting between 3-4k at those speeds as its a 1-1 ratio in 5th.
It works out at 30 or 35 mpg not bad seeing as I did teach several people a lesson too.

Re: MPG??
Managed well over 40mpg in my old car on a run to Cornwall. Used to average 35-40 in usual daily driving.

Re: MPG??
Best I've managed so far with the weber is a 33.5 mpg, going on motorway with max 90-100 kph (=8.5 lt/100km) which is a bit better than the M10B16 with solex carb performance data from factory (9.0 lt/100 km)
And this with much more fat tyres/wheels than the factory ones, but also with 5 speed eco getrag instead of the factory's 4speed.
However, playing "catch me if you can" ,
I have reached all the numbers down to 14 mpg

Re: MPG??
When I was using my car as daily the most I seemed to be able to get was 22mpg that's with a 320/6 with weber.
I had one of those apps that calculated everything and I could record everything...I could never get it higher, I'm thinking I may have had an issue now seeing everyone else's mpg?

Sounds about right with the auto box. that kills the economy.sleepy wrote:When I was using my car as daily the most I seemed to be able to get was 22mpg that's with a 320/6 with weber.

1. you drive like your being chased by a transvestite wielding a sharpened stiletto in her handproblemchild75 wrote:Seriously!most I've ever had was 140 miles out of a tank
2. you have a 3.91 diff on an m20 box
3. I don't think MPG is the top of your list or being sensible when your in your car
you know this thread has got me thinking, i could easily fit the s52/m54 6 speed box its the same ratios with a 1:1 in 4th but has an overdrive 0.83 ratio for sixth gear. That way id be able to get decent economy at higher speeds.

Re: MPG??
Best from my M30B35 = 30mpg highway. Average city = 18 - 20 mpg.
Strangely the M20B20 used to get similar city mpg as an automatic.
The old e21 323i manual with L-Jet used to average 26mpg city. Highway was still around 30mpg, but I only had a 4 speed box, so cruising revs were fairly high.
