E21 323i power steering upgrade
I was wondering if anyone can help me with this question. I have just purchased a power steering rack, pump, reservoir etc to convert my non powered rack on my 1982, 323i. I have been told by one member that the front cross member is different for a power rack and by others (Fritzbits) that it is the same cross member and my new rack will fit. Can anyone confirm to me which is true, as I am currently sourcing parts for my refurbishment and would like to box wrap this issue up and move on to the other bits I need. Any info is appreciated, particularly if you have done this conversion/ upgrade. Gaz

Crossmember defo is the same. However, perhaps you can post a few pics so we can check if the set is complete. Parts usually missing are the alternator bracket (version the pump bolts onto) and the coupling between rack and steering column (shorter with P/S).

Here's a few pics of the power rack and other bits that I bought, I believe I should just need tie rods, track rod ends, gaiters and a drive belt to complete the set up, which again, I understand if serviceable, I can use the manual rack tie rods and track rod ends ? Let me know if you know different, I'm very new to e21's. Gaz
