e34 elipsoid headlights in e21

Has anyone here fitted a set of e34 elipsoid headlights to their e21, i have a set here and have started teh process but they are nowhere near fitting, looks like a tonne of work.

anyone had better luck?

So far as I'm aware, the quad lamps on an E21 are the exact same units as on a mk1 Vw Scirocco, and having both, I hang out on vwvortex a bit too. These topics both cover the mods done to get the projectors in one of those, and it looks like it'd be similar work to get them in an E21

thats a great help, i was looking at it the wrong way, i was going to keep the mounting tabs on the e34 lights and weld on new brackets to the e21 mounts . so glad i dont have to do that

for future search purposes, yes e34 lights can be fitted using similar method to the instructions on vw vortex. but it is alot of work, my advice would eb to buy e30 elipsoids

I just started trying to make e34 lights fit and i'm with Niall, so much work involved!!! I would love to see how much you ended up cutting Niall.

i should have taken pics, but it looked so frankenstein that i wasnt proud of it.

The e21 headlight buckets i had to cut back to where they are almost just the flat bit, i cut adn sanded everything off the e34 lights that i could, including one of the blocks that a screw goes in to hold the bulb part on, then i modified where the park light bulb goes in and the holder because that sits exactly where a factory adjuster goes

its awesome when done, but alot of effort. if i did it again i think i would keep the lugs on the lugs on the e34 lights and weld on new brackets to the e21 cage.

But if you got e30 elipsoid lights i think it would be only 30 mins work per side

Yea I bet, which makes it so tempting to do especially since I have a set of e34 lights, now I want to do it again haha. I know e30 ones look so easy!
