Plastic trim between rear lights removal.
Plastic trim between rear lights removal.
Hi guys, I want to remove the ridged plastic trim between the rear lights. I have removed the two top screws and the bottom two lugs are free but it is still held in place, is it by the chrome ring trim around the boot lid button, as this is where the resistance is to stop it coming off. I don't want to pull to hard in case it breaks, does this chrome ring have to be removed, if so how, or the whole lock itself. Thanks for any advice.

Yank it and it'll come off. I hate the bloody things, so you can have mine if yours does crack.

Take the lock of pretty easy with a ring like sleeve on the back if not

Well the yank did it! Bloody double sided sticky tape on the back of the panel around the boot knob holding it in place as if the screws weren't enough.

If all is still original, you cannot yank it of without removing the bootlock and damaging the black plate.
The lock also holds the black plate in place. But often it's already broken around the lock.

I'm having the same problem. My trim doesn't appear to be broken so the lock needs to come off.
Is there a special tool to remove the lock or is this a standard type of fixing? Will a bodyshop have the tool?

Hi, remove the mechanisms you see when you look in the trunk located right behind the lock. Then with a flat screwdriver you can remove the back ring of the lock. Needs a bit of force for that. Now you can remove the lock outwards.
