Brake Master Cylinder RHD... Alternatives?

Having trouble finding a reasonably priced master cylinder. Linwar want £220 plus the old one, and the dealership want a whopping £430!!!

Are there any alternative solutions for the brake master... ? Will an E30 one fit?

Some good addresses in there, isn't Bigg Red able to supply an overhaul kit at a decent rate? The parts really cost peanuts so something must be possible.

BTW dealer charges 101 Euros here for an overhaul kit, so that will be under 100 GBP. Also found this website in Germany with some NOS. They sell the same kit for € 69 but I'd have second thoughts... it is a way old part so even when new, unused and original Até, it still is rubber that's almost antique.

Double check you exact part number (I think it's 34311102219) but BMW supply ATE brake masters, but you can get an ATE one here for £120:

Or the TRW is a tenner less... free delivery... you may need to call them to ensure they send a RHD one though.

Thanks mate but I'm pretty sure the RHD ones are out of stock pretty much everywhere. Thankfully my master actually held up on a full drain and refill/bleed!

FYI all Linwar are selling reconditioned RHD masters for £190+VAT.

Looks like the overhaul kits are the same for LHD and RHD though!

Well done on the temporary fix!... but if you do want a replacement I usually find by calling a couple of suppliers (like the one I mentioned) they can order a RHD in for you and have it in a few days.

the internals of the LHD and the RHD are the same. I know this because I ordered a RHD from mister auto and they sent me a LHD instead. not wanting to lose time I just took them both apart and swapped the LHD stuff straight into the RHD master and then bench bled it and it worked great.

I used a pressure bleeder to force the fluid through rather then pumping the pedal. I am sure that its probably been changed already at one point

Get the old cylinder bored and lined with a stainless steel sleeve, then put a repair kit through it and never touch it again. This has worked for me for over 20 years with brake and clutch master and slave cylinders for cars, tractors and trucks (including my E21).

I had a stainless steel restoration/ conversion done to mine by Fritz bits, came back like brand new and does what it is supposed to do, think it was about £160 with the Vat and postage, simplest and best option really.
