I have 1981 320is and am in the middle of a discussion with a so called know it all about my Recardo seats. When I bought the car I was told the seats are leather (did not buy the car new). My know it all buddy says..NO way..BMW did not offer or provide leather for the 320is. Please help me, do I have leather or just the world famous BMW leatherette?

Most likely leatherette.

Or leather but just built in aftermarket. I've seen some fine examples of reupholstered cars with real leather.
