Might be able to get hands on 1983 316 auto. Car is in good condition sunroof
down side total loss.

How much does the total loss affect price

Depends on the individual I guess? Also depends on the reason why? I had an E30 M3 that I got for less than £10k because it was recorded as a CAT D several years ago and it scared folk off. Had they dug a little deeper, they could have seen it was down to cosmetic repairs outweighing value, when they were worth peanuts.

Personally, if the damage was light, or it's been repaired properly, I would value condition over anything else. It wouldn't take much for a 316 to be written off on paper.
