Finally I found some time to do a little work. My dad came around and picked up the chisel to clean the floor. And then I’ve got the question if I could weld the exhaust on his Still chainsaw .
I took out the triangle before, It was tempered with before, and though not in sight, I ‘ve seen more crap on this car, so I decided to clean it all. Good choice that turned out to be…

And than you find this. That’s gonna be some more drilling, repairing and welding…

Zincsprayed it all, and some colour will be onthere, before welding, because I wont get to it anymore once the triangle is back on it.

That damn rotten metal still annoyed me big time. Why had this part to be rotten aswell. The damn car never seizes to amaze me… But what to do? Rip it out, to find out that that was a good call. Upper side is almost completely gone.



The funny thing is the part it was attached to has no damage of importance.



The breaker I have is just 6 months younger, but this part is as good as new!

And we have a first: this part is back in polaris! I can’t reach this spot after welding the trangle back on. So 2 coats of primer, 2 coats of Polaris and 1 coat of clearpaint. Doesn’t have to look nice, protection is what matters.





And the triangles have some colour aswell.



Soon to be put back, so I can start working on the left side.

The case is that I think that the right side around the front wheelhouse was a simple job. So lighthearted I started on the left side today. It had some filler on it, so a got my torch and burned the crap of of it. Nice work to do!

For starters I like to know why this strange dent in is the ledge.





After that I liked to know why they used tons of filler on it.



This corner is put in later. I have to find out if it can be reused or has to go.

If you look close, there is a double strip of metal. Does not belong there, but what it is or why it’s there…



This is supposed tob e flat, but I spot a double plate…



More welds…



So on with the torch and scratch away!



Some spots more than 5mm thick!!

Triangle on this side had to go aswell, so I outlined the spotwelds



As I stated before, when working on the rightside, these need to be welded with at least 18 spotwelds. The right side had exactly 1 spotweld, this side has zero, none what so ever… NONE! Another fine example of the qualitywork of Brové…



I took of a piece of the front and there was that double strip of metal again.A chunk rust it is. It turns out to be an edge of a previous front. They just cut out the plate and left the edge welded to the wing. Just welded the new front over it, why take the effort to do it right?…



So I jumped in and just cut out the complete crap section. Needs to be clear that this is one of my more exiting actions…

In the meanwhile, it’s March 2014. I took out the badly repaired corner of the front wheelhouse, left side. Below that, shocktower plate has severe damage aswell. The donor looks alright so that’s a good startingpoint.
Gained the donormaterial:



Rust on the shocktower.



But mine is much much worse
