Guys I've got an m52b28 in my unit with a front sump, I want to know how it compares to the e34 unit. Can someone measure an e34 sump to compare.
Pic explains all -

e34 never came with m52b28 and this is defiantly an m52b28 with a front sump
Really interested to know how it compares in depth to the e34 unit

I can 100% gaurente it is not an e34 sump, it's a standard fit m52b28 sump.
It's going to be close to the e34 sump I just want to know how close it is as I know you have to chop the e34 sump down to fit into the e21 but this one might be shorter

No m52b28 came with a front sump. None. Ever.
What you got there is an e34 sump that has been put on an m52b28.
when you put that engine in an e21 itll be an inch or two lower then the subframe.

It is 100% not an e34 sump (although it may be the same dimensions)
It is a standard front sump from an m52b28.
Photo is taken of a standard car that is in my unit that is being stripped for work at the moment.
You are welcome to come and see it in person if you don't believe me!
I can 100% gaurente you bmw made the m52b28 with a front sump!!

Well perhaps we need some more info as more people might be interested. Why do you want to know and where does a M52 with front sump come from? A little more info prevents lots of replies that mess up the thread.

the reason is that there is a massive scene tax on e34 sumps, if you can get an m52 that already has one it keeps the costs down.
just had a look on real oem and cant find a 7 series with a front sump. Im so confused.
I have an e34 sump ill go measure it. but I do think its about 4" deep as per the one you got there dude.

E38 728i is a front sumped m52b28.
Nas is going to have a measure of an e34 sump to see how it compares but initial assumption is it's the same depth.
Get hold of one quick before people catch on and the prices rocket! E34 sumps are increasingly hard to find!

Ive got half a mind to get these pressed / casted you know. A few years back I was scored three of them for 20 quid a throw!
Now your spending 150-200 a time Then another couple of hundred to modify its almost as much as the engine on its own.
