Anyone got any tips on how to get the rear ARB on with poly bushes. Brackets need to slot in at the top and bolt on at the bottom. Do you need two people to do it and rotate the bar with the slots engaged or is there a magic way to get the brackets on?

If your answer is do it on the bench or even "remove the fuel tanks" then I don't want to know! Car is back together brakes bled and ready for test drive. Just need to get the ARB on.

My current solution involves some mechanics with a 2 post lift being given some cash!

The poly bushes we fitted to Si's car needed trimming down to get them to fit. They were too big.
We took something like 5mm off of the flat face.

They are a b#t#h.

We did try hooking the top in, ratchet spanner on the bolt with it in place then water pump pliers to squeeze it all together and turn the spanner.
It nearly worked.

Other option is to fit a longer bolt to pull it most of the way in, then cut the excess off the back afterwards to stop it hitting the rest of the subframe when its tightened up.

PS - it seemed to be best with the suspension loaded up ie the roll bar eyes as high as possible with out the drop links in place if you see what I mean.

arb mounts are an utter nob head to do, wouldnt want to be you.

AYe thats a good idea. Put them in boiling hot water it makes them a little more squidgy

I'm thinking of making some replacement brackets with a longer tongue that will actually lock in to the slot rather than vaguely wobbling around then falling off. In fact I can weld some steel onto the ones I have.

Trimming the bushes sounds a good idea. None of these polybushes fits terribly well, I couldn't get the subframe bushes to go in properly so I ended up taking a flap disk on the grinder to them and trimming them down. Diff bush fitted together better but I had to use trolley jack and the BFH to get it into the body mount end.

I also tried the hot air gun but it was a bit aggressive, hot water sounds sensible.

I'll see if I get time to have a go this weekend.

Still not tried driving the car, battery was flat when I finished yesterday, charged up and moved it off the drive this AM as my Wife wants a skip to chuck stuff in, but that's it. Too late when I got home from work. I hope it'll go in a straight line!
