Gearbox, which type is this?

Post by niske »

Hello to everybody

I need some help about this gearbox
Guy claims that is M10 5 speed and to me it's little short?
On back there is nr. 232.0.139.02 5.2 225
Getrag 232 is common 02 4 speed gearbox, so I'm confused...
To me it looks like 4 speed M10 gearbox, but is there any changes that this is 5 speed CR?

@Blackadder - Yes, there are two lengths of 5-spd M10 box for the E21 I think as I had to get a propshaft shortened when replacing my 5-spd.. I think most 5-spd models had the tougher Getrag 245 installed. Some very late E21's had a shorter one, but I'm not sure which model.
