Air filter options - M20 / Weber

Hi all

I'm looking at replacing the stock air filter assembly on the 320/6, I have a few questions however...

If I install something like this:

What would then happen to the head breather hose, and the warm air intake?

I have the Weber DGAS 38 carb.

I have seen small pod like filters from k&n which could handle the breather hose, any experience with this?

I have no idea if the carb and the new filter assembly will need the original warm air feed.... again any advise would be appreciated.

The head breather hose can either be extended down towards the bottom of the car to vent to atmosphere (so it doesn't foul your bay with oil vapours), or you can install a catch can... The warm air feed pipe can be removed completely - I think it's only warmed by the exhaust manifold/heatshield anyway? I've never missed the warm air feed. TBH you want cold air going into the Weber anyway!

M10 with a Weber, so similar. I'm making an assumption that the warm air feed on the M20 is exactly the same as the M10 though.

Ah okay cool.

So you've also done away with the original airbox? What did you use to replace it?

Yep, I hated that pancake! I used an aftermarket low profile filter (model 401 - that's for a 32/34 DMTL, but perhaps email them re the 38?);

Has to be low profile because the bonnet won't close otherwise!

I just remembered that there's also one vacuum hose that runs from the weber up to the original airfilter - any idea what happens to that? I still have the red rubber cap that was on the original solex, do I just cap it off?

I'm not sure on that one to be honest mate. Maybe contact Weber directly for a diagram, or someone else can advise.
