Polyurethane front control arm bushes advice

Post by M15KYY »

Hi guys

I've seen these polyurethane bushes for front control arms, does anyone have these? What are your opinions? Are they worth the money? Are they a pain to fit?

http://www.superflex.co.uk/proddetail.p ... 91-0388KSS

The front control arms are about the only parts on my car that are still original specification. And I hate them! :blablabla if you have poly bushes on the front of your or have had them on previous cars what make were they and would you recommend them?

Cheers
Misky

From personal experience poly bushes are very easy to fit.

Worth the money and last well :driving

I used the same make as what you have the link too

Massive improvement on my Baur, but I did the rod ends and the rear at the same time, replacing the perished 20+ year old ones - car came with receipts from BMW for bushes replaced but they were yellowed with age!

Well worth it. I probably have a set spare still, strongflex ones from the man in Czech. They are a bit of a pig to press in, and I ended up trimming them a bit.

I bought new lower arms which required the conical type bushes. The only ones available came from Eurometric in US. They fitted just fine. Haven't driven the car yet tho.

Thanks for your replies fellas i will get them ordered. I havent had chance to look yet but do the old bushes just press out or do they require burning out?

burn them and leave the metal sleeve in until you have checked the bush size. My first set were right to go in the sleeve, but I had whacked it out straight after the burning stage while everything was hot. I then couldn't put the car back together for a week or two until I got the right size ones.

Can I ask where you got the new sleeves from as I'm not 100% happy with my fix (section of exhaust pipe cut to size) as I cut them out too :(

I bought the bushes for the pre facelift e21 which were slightly larger diameter.
