Temperature gauge

Post by yatisr »

I suspect that the temperature gauge on my 323I is over-reading. However, before I change it I want to make sure. Does anyone know what the actual temperatures are at each mark of the temperature gauge? Thanks in advance and season's greetings to all.

See the FAQ section on temp problems, usually the temp sender near the thermostat is the cause, the gauge itself usually is fine

Thanks Jeroen. I have read the useful information in the FAQ Section, as per your advice. By temperature sender, I assume that you mean the Remote Thermometer Sending Unit 62 11 0 788 115.

That is correct, I'll add the part no to the FAQ as well

Please check also the ground connections of the engine and the engine harness and the generator. The ground connection of the engine harness is somewhere under the manifold. Maybe they have to be cleaned. They also can cause funny movements in the instruments. Check also the cable of the sensor, it may get slightly broken over the years.
