Help in identifying this gearbox

Post by Dammizi »

Hi, many years ago I purchased this gearbox as a spare for my 323 and just recently realised that I no longer have any use for it since I upgraded to a dogleg gearbox.. anyways after searching for some further details on this box I cant seem to find any M60 markings on it's side and no standard part no. on the bell housing, just a short code stamped at the top of the bell housing and another one at the back of the gearbox... can any of you identify it if it is for an m10 or m20? and am I right in saying it is a 5speed standard overdrive box due to the extension at the back and the reverse switch at the top of the box not the back?

Here are some pics of my gearbox so maybe one of you could decide what type of box it is. thx !

will measure them first thing tomorrow morning once im at the garage and report here thx! also just was reading that apart from the serial code at the top of the housing and part no. at the back of the box, there should be the correct p/n on the inside of the housing? if so this is the only place I didn't look well so must I check tomorrow morning also maybe?

just checked the stamp on the inside of the bell housing, an there is written: 2.1 ,225 , 242.00325.90 what is the difference between the 242 and 245 gearboxes? also are the ratio's same across all m10 overdrive boxes?

also just measured the distance between the 2 top bell housing bolt holes and it is 120mm from centre to centre.
