Digital clock

Hopefully a silly question, but when I removed and replaced my battery last week, the clock has since read 1.00 and seemingly cant be changed. Am I missing something please ?

Did you try pushing the small buttons underneath the clock's display with for instance a pen or paperclip? That should do the trick; left button for hours, right for minutes.

I did try the buttons with a pen. Maybe I need to go to the dealer for a special BMW pen !

It doesn't run either, just stays at 1:00? Even after disconnecting and reconnecting the battery the clock should start moving.

Yes, stays at 1.00. It was working before I took the battery out, too

Hi Neil,

Did you try disconnecting and reconnecting the battery again? I believe indicating 01:00 is some sort of error code indicating that the battery has been disconnected. I've once read something about it in the owner's manual where it is stated that you should reset the clock. Unfortunately the manual does not describe how that can be done, but I assume it is done by dis- and reconnecting the battery.

I once had the same problem you describe yet the clock remained switched on even when I removed the ignition key.

If that fails, try disconnecting both battery leds and holding them together for 30 seconds, then reconect. I can't remember the logic behind it, but it magically sorted out the whappy trip computer on my mk1 Golf GTI.

Woo hoo ! Polov8 got it right. Flashed the battery cables together and it works great. Funny enough, I was talking to a Seat master tech at the weekend, on unrelated matters, and he mentioned having to do the same thing with new Seats to clear some problem

I actually had the same problem last week, I kept meaning to disconnect and reconnect at 12.00 to set the time.

Initially just disconnecting and quickly reconnecting didn't do it, I had to leave disconnected for 30 sec or so.
I assume there must have been some residual current or similar which connecting the leads together must cure!
