Need help building a 2.7 m20
As in the title need help building an 2.7 m20, I will be keeping the k jet system and using a 731 head. Cheers
Re: Need help building a 2.7 m20
I had plans to do the same using the forged 324d crank but never progressed. Car coming back from paint and I need to build a engine for it!

As a base you need the 122hp 27 6e a type eta block .. plug and play with the 731 head .. if you balance things like cranck conrods ald rework the heads in and outlet ports and put in a mild cam 170hp and a good amount of extra torque is available
Don't use the 129hp 27 6k b block because the pistons used in that type eta are not usable with the 731 head

So then it's pretty pointless as I might aswell stick with the 2.3 bottom em as still achieve 170bhp

Or would I get more torque by going down the 2.7 route?

You will have more torque .. thats all .. if you want more power like 200hp or so you need to go the l jet route and use the 129hp block with 885 head .. i did that in my ex e30 and had 204hp and 278nm torque

Don't think so .. the K-jet itself is the main bottleneck .. you can use the 129hp version and the 885 head with the e21 323i intake and k-jet but the diameter of the intake tubes are smaller than the inlet ports from the 885 head .. so you already lose some capacity at that point also

I think by using the porsche k jet bits and Merc injectors 200bhp can be achieved
