@uwbuurman i have one more question, as you see in the image in the link below, my door sill doenst seem to look just like yours. you seem to have the two holes in the back end of it as well as it seem to sort of "bend" inwards there a bit to follow the shape of the body. my door sill i bought is straight and does not have those two holes and mine has a sort of an extra panel at what i believe to be the rear end of mine.

im thinking about cutting off the top part and that extra piece of body panel and only use the lower part which is normally painted black on the e21?

do you think i can cut my new sill to only use that lower part and thus only change the outter side of it (and not the top side which on my car is rust free) or will it be too tricky to weld? do u think it would need to be fully welded (and not just spot welded) as it is on the outside of the car, now IF it works to do this at all?
i have welded some steel tube crash frames (cro-mo steel) and some other smaller jobs but never any body parts like this and therefore im a bit in need of help!
