Yeah, but not in this car
. The thing is that I aim to have the complete car build in 2017, except for the engine. That needs to be rebuild completely, just like the car it selve, no screw, nut or bolt will stay in place.
But that build takes time, and is planned for next winter. I hope it will be ready in the spring of 2018.

Ziet er super goed uit Koos; ook mooi gevonden met het plaatsen van die metertjes.

The steeringcolumn and pedalbox needed some attention, actually more than I remembered and more than I bargained for… So I disassembled the lot.

The master clutch cilinder was leaking.

Due to that leaking master cillinder the pedalbox was heavily corroded.

Sandblasted and primered in epoxy.

The upper columncover had some damages, so sanded down and also primered in epoxy.

Nice and black again.

Since I was playing around with spraycans, I might just aswell refurbish the cover of the wipermotorbox.

The seal on the pedalbox was shot but a new one is nla. So I made one with foamtape.

And assembled again.

Then it was time for the heater. What a dirty part that was.

Full of little seeds and leafs.

Small parts cleaned.

The type of blower I have, Sofica. They used different types over the years.

And back in the car.

And some bling, gotten a box of goodies back from the zinckcoater.

One of those goodies is the holder for the wipermotor.

Most of it is covered up, but this wil show:

Also the hoodlock done.

Sound insulation in the enginebay.

And the heatdeflector, only for the 323i, put in. Of course a new one.

Re: Uwbuurman: 1978 323i polaris: page 40 lots done!!
Since the loom, the steeringcolumn and the heater are in, it is time for the dashboard. The old dash that came with the car was torn and had cracks. So the first thing I did when I bought the car back in the days, was to buy a good dash. The funny thing is that I wanted to put that good dash in soon after I bought it. This is the first time I’ve gotten around to do it in 7 years
. Anyway, I‘ve got it in, with help from Groentje_me, Jan. It is a two person job, so many thanks, Jan!
But first a good clean!!

After 7 years on the shelf with me and who knows how long with the previous owner, it was very dirty.

And so we have this.

That needs to go here.

And the pic of the dash in it’s placed should have come here, but I forgotten to take that pic….
