Bucket Seats

Post by Mitch888 »

I'm looking to buy a pair of bucket seats to fit in my 1983 e21. My interior colour is navy so i need something that will match it and also will fit into my car. I have been looking around but need help as to what to buy and whether I would need to buy new runners and frames in order to fit the seats into my car?
Thanks Mitch

Since originals in a good condition are rarer than hen's teeth and cloth ones won't last anyway as the cloth is almost antique, it would be best to find some period sports seats and have them retrimmed together with the rear seat so it all matches. The same seats were used in the sports versions of many European makes. Be very, very careful with Chinese replicas as most are outright dangerous, meaning these will be what kills you if you're ever involved in a car crash.

All Recaro seats (new and old) will fit if you use the E21 recaro brackets. They fit between the base of the seat and the E21 sliders. Ofcourse you can make your own if you like - there is at least one DIY guide to that.

Anything other seats you will have to DIY your own brackets.
